Although singing is her artistic focus, Isabel Wamig has also been dancing and playing the violin since her childhood. She received her education in classical singing, jazz singing, contemporary dance, music pedagogy and violin at the „ArtEZ University of the Arts“ in Arnhem and the “Folkwang University” in Essen. Isabel is mostly engaged in interdisciplinary and international theatre productions for example at the “Neuköllner Oper” Berlin, “Kampnagel”, the “Theaterhaus Stuttgart” or the “ImPulsTanz Festival Wien” and currently holds a scholarship at the international voice studio Berlin. She appreciates working with the music theatre directors Arila Siegert, Sommer Ulrickson and Kerstin Steeb and also creates her own music, poetry and choreographies. Additionally Isabel Wamig enjoys teaching and working with people, children and artists of all kinds of different genres and backgrounds.

Artist Statement

The artistic language of the singer Isabel Wamig, reflects her deeper research beyond the borders of classical singing. Not only does she explore the voice beyond genres and creates a new multi genre singing, also her physical approach as a dancer serves her overall audio and visual immersive concept, as does her violin and electronic sounds. Her lyrics too embody her unique and creative approach of profound sensuality, poetic beauty and emotional intensity of several arts combined. The all-round artist enjoys enlarging her team of musicians, dancers and all kinds of artists in order to create an even deeper emotional and multidimensional experience for her audience. Together with the guitarist Micha Lorenz and their duo DUIMA she developes her own ideas and performances. With her works she supports the empowerment and equality of individuals of a divers society.
